Role: Carer/Personal Assistant - Kings Cross

Location

You will be working close to Kings Cross, central London with 3 tube stations and 3 overground stations within 10mins walking distance.

Summary

The female client is seeking a female PA to assist with all elements of her life.  Creativity is a major part of the clients life – She has studied Fashion Design Womenswear at Central St Martins as a mature student; She also has a degree in Environmental Management. It is essential that she has suitable care support in place in order to achieve independence.

Background

The client has multiple issues for which she requires a carer, including; Fibromyalgia, chronic back pain caused by injury (post operation), chronic fatigue, arthritis, anxiety/depression and dyslexia.  Ideally we are looking for one main Carer/PA to cover all or the majority of the available shifts as outlined below, but will consider a number of Carers/PA’s job sharing. She is also looking for ongoing holiday and emergency cover, as well as adhoc shifts with plenty of flexibility, so please do apply even if you cannot cover the shifts advertised below.

The Carers/PA's we are looking for must genuinely wish to assist the client with living a fulfilling life and have the necessary skills to do so (pay rate will reflect skillset and experience). She requires someone who is compassionate and supportive. They must also have the ability to understand that her problems are a lot of the time not visible and whilst she may look OK, she is always in a lot of pain and is chronically fatigued.

Regarding Covid Vaccination

The client is a ‘Free Choice Employer’ and believes it is everyone’s right to decide whether to be vaccinated or not.

DBS Check

A valid DBS check will be required for any successful candidate.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Personal care tasks - Dressing, assistance with bathing/showering, washing and drying hair etc
  • Assisting with medication and therapies - Ordering, collection, prompting and application of medication where necessary. Booking appointments and accompanying as necessary
  • Household domestic tasks - Washing up, laundry, general cleaning, stock rotation etc
  • Shopping - Shopping for food and other items in the local area and online
  • Planning and preparing meals - the client has dietary requirements that would benefit from a Carer/PA who themselves have a healthy diet and can come up with, plan and cook meals that meet these needs.
  • Administration and general organisation - Corresponding via email/phone/written letter with organisations such as the local council/GP etc on her behalf. Filing, planning tasks and activities, managing diaries, collating receipts, managing a shopping budget, assistance with invoicing etc.

 

Skills desired/required

  • Previous Carer/PA experience - However, applications from non carers/PA's will be considered if applicants can demonstrate they have the necessary skills.
  • A good level of English, both spoken and written is essential
  • A good level of numeracy is essential - basic mathematics will be frequently called upon
  • Computer literacy - Experience with Word/Excel/MindJet is desirable
  • Cooking -  An interest in healthy diet/nutrition would be beneficial
  • Organisation - Clients daily routine requires management of many factors, good organisational skills are a must
  • Massage experience would be a bonus

  • Punctuality & Reliability - the clients daily routine is meticulously planned to sustain her wellbeing, it is essential that you can be on time.  Furthermore, any shifts that are missed for any reason cause significant issues for the client.

Hours and pay

Please note: There is currently a permanent full time position about to become available, however job sharing would be considered depending on suitability.

The rate of pay is PAYE (paid holiday of 5.6 weeks per year (or pro-rata equivalent) etc) : £14.80 - £15.64 per hour and £153.78 - £156.40 per sleep over shift. Self Employed (no paid holidays etc): May be considered but realistically only for occasional shifts and cover.

Weekly Schedule:

  • Monday - 7.30am - 12.30pm, + 2.30pm - 6.30pm(afternoon shift is fortnightly)
  • Tuesday – (24 hrs) - 7.30am - 7.30am
  • Wednesday - (24 hrs) - 7.30am - 7.30am
  • Thursday - 7.30am - 12.30 pm
  • Friday - 7.30am - 12.30pm
